Mission in Action

During the spring and summer of 2003 the people of Wellspring church, Congleton, thought and prayed about how they could serve God in the world .  At a prayer and discussion meeting in October they identified particular ways in which they felt they could put their 'Mission' into 'Action'.  One of these was support for the Wellspring Kitchen in Stockport, which is described as one of the 'Projects' in the section of the web site covering 'What we do'.  Another initiative was 'The Word for The World' (below).

Wellspring Church, Congleton, have decided to support a bible translation charity, The Word For The World.  We are hoping to sponsor a person with whom we can link up, and so become involved with the project.

We plan to raise money by a combination of fund-raising events and personal donations.  We pray that as we work towards our targets we will grow closer together as a church family.

Formation in World Mission, visit to Brazil

Dennis Wood of Trinity church, Congleton, visited Brazil as a representative of the Chester and Stoke-on-Trent District.  This is his report.  Dennis was a member of a group of seven people visiting Brazil from Britain.  He encountered and shared life experiences with many different people there.  During this wonderful experience he had the privilege of spending a weekend with members of a church in a favela (a shanty town or slum), worshipped in a plastic tent church in a new homeless camp, visited the Methodist Community of Street People sandwiched above and below major highways, and visited a Roman Catholic Base Community.

Wellspring Church visit Quinta Hall

In 2006, Wellspring Church spent a weekend away at Quinta Hall in Shropshire.  It proved to be every bit as successful as the previous visit in 2003.   Over seventy ‘Wellspringers’ took part.  It was another fantastic weekend enjoyed thoroughly by young and old alike.  More importantly, everyone who attended has been been challenged to seek out and be open to God’s plans for Wellspring Church and to pray about the role we as individuals will have to play.
