Mission Made Easy
The Speakers

Andy Hawthorne

Founder & Director of The Message Trust

The straight talking visionary from Manchester has been one of the single most influential Christians in the North West since booking the Apollo Theatre in the mid 1980s for a week of Christian celebration.

Since that moment Andy has seen God enlarge his tent in miraculous ways. Be it the impact and success of The Tribe (formerly The World Wide Message Tribe), the incredible work of the Eden projects or the continuing mobilisation of young people to make an impact in Manchester, in every way the Lord has been true to His Word that "He is doing a new thing" in Manchester.

On a daily basis Andy is seeing what trained and committed young people can do to make a difference in their community. He can also witness to the fact that mission is as much on your doorstep as it is in far away lands.

Jenny Holtzhausen

Nurse Practitioner and Director of Primary Health Care and Mobile Clinics & School of Health, Africa School of Mission (ASM), South Africa.

After completing her Nursing training Jenny managed a Military Clinic in the South African Army before studying at the Africa School of Mission (ASM).  God’s call on her life to equip people for medical care in remote communities led her to join the School of Health staff.

Under her guidance the health training and related ministry of ASM has grown to include not only courses accredited with the South African Nursing Council, but also a permanent Primary Care Clinic and a range of support at a rural farm community centred around the Mobile Clinic.  Jenny’s desire is to see both medically trained and non-medical Christians catching the vision to be trained at ASM and released from their into new ministries.

Geoff Malan

Principal, Africa School of Mission (ASM); Chairman, Asian Outreach South Africa.

ASM was visionary from the start.  A multi- racial college in South Africa in the 1980s could only be of God.  Geoff Malan was part of this from the earliest days and he became principal of ASM in 1994.  Since then he has seen students from more than 25 countries be released into God’s service in just as many countries.

His work with Asian Outreach has taken him to India and China.  ASM retains close links with its missionary graduates and this has given Geoff a unique insight into the needs of the individual missionaries and their relationship with home churches and supporting churches. He is convinced that bringing the missionary and the church closer together is one of the key factors in successfully carrying out God’s call to mission.  Geoff is the International Director of Mission in Action.

Kerry Dixon

Founder & Director of Signpost International

An ex punk rocker may not be the typical background for a minister and founder of a missions organisation, but it does give one the grounding to go against the flow.  Signpost International is an organisation dedicated to helping the poorest communities in the World, making a difference in places that others may feel are a pointless exercise.

Kerry knows that in order to get the average Christian involved they have to be inspired.  This inspiration comes through seeing God’s people making a difference in these most difficult places.  From a small start in 1992, Signpost now operates in 3 continents, sending teams and working with local organisations.  Like Mission in Action Kerry firmly believes in the need to get people from churches to go and see how their church can make an impact.
