Davenport Chapel is situated near the Congleton to Holmes Chapel Road. You can't miss it
– it's the one with the huge
car park and the lovely graveyard.
A small country chapel with humble beginnings, the Venables family from Lightwood farm, just across the road, were the driving force behind its building in 1834.
Over the years the chapel has been modernized to include central heating, fitted carpets, a very useful kitchen bar, new curtains and new
doors, and this year a toilet suitable for the disabled
Although the congregation is not the largest one to be found in the circuit all the members are very enthusiastic and willing to donate their various skills to the well-being of the
chapel.
There is one service each Sunday at 10-45 a.m. plus several popular 'specials' throughout the year, including a very decorative Harvest Festival. The Autumn Fayre always proves to be a very good social event and fund-raiser which relies very heavily on the support of friends from other
chapels and churches.
In a world of confusion and disarray people are discovering the peace and warmth of a simple country
chapel (especially one with a huge car park and a lovely graveyard!)
