'Pirates of Penzance' a Resounding Success
One of the recent shows presented by Trinity Amateur Operatic Society was Gilbert and Sullivan's The Pirates of Penzance, at Congleton's Daneside Theatre. The orchestra, chorus, costumes and scenery were splendid and the leading singers outstanding. They received even better reviews than usual from both audiences and local press. And to cap it all, the cast voted the show one of the happiest and most enjoyable to be in, for years. |
|
Reflecting this outward looking attitude, we now have members from Bosley, Brookhouse Green and Wellspring, as well as Trinity. We find that the people who listen to us have a very wide range of tastes in music. As a result, the 'sets' of music we sing have encompassed styles ranging from Bach to the Blues. For example, on Palm Sunday evening we sang two medleys of hymns, anthems and songs for a large, appreciative congregation drawn from many churches and denominations. Another of our projects is to sing a full Choral Communion to a contemporary setting. The commitment, good humour and fellowship of the choir members never cease to astonish and delight the choir master. |
